The thing that actually goes wrong with domains
Not price. Renewals.
A domain registered years ago by somebody who has since left, on a card that expired, with notices going to an inbox nobody reads. Then one morning the website is gone and the email has stopped, and getting it back is expensive and sometimes impossible if somebody else has grabbed it.
I watch renewals and I tell you before they happen. It is not a feature anybody markets, and it is the only part of domain management that has ever ruined anyone’s week.
Moving a domain you already own
Straightforward, and I handle it. You get the authorisation code from your current registrar, or I help you find it if that is the bit that has you stuck, and the transfer runs from there.
Nothing goes offline during a transfer. Your website and email keep running because the DNS records come across with it.
If your current registrar is making it difficult, which some deliberately do, tell me and I will deal with them.

Do I have to host with you to register a domain here?
No. The domain is yours and you can point it anywhere.
Which extension should I get?
For a business trading in Cambridgeshire, .co.uk. Take the .com as well if it is free and affordable, so nobody else builds something on it later.
Who owns the domain?
You do. It is registered in your name, not mine. That should not need saying, and yet it does.
